Somewhere, Campbell Brown is Cackling Madly.

Sarah “Talkingpointalicious” Palin and Katie “I’m Really Trying To Get You To Say Something Relevant” Couric talk foreign policy:

I thought the “fungible” thing was just a weird moment of total confusion, but apparently, that’s how she talks all the time.

As Yglesias notes, Moscow is actually closer to New York than it is to Anchorage. Hmm. I think I’d pick New York’s seriously awesome David Paterson over any of the candidates.

It boggles the mind, that she can actually make that argument with a straight face.

In response to Couric’s question about how Alaska’s proximity to Russia enhances her foreign policy credentials, Palin said, “Well, it certainly does, because our next door neighbours are foreign countries there (I’m guessing) in the state that I am the executive of.”

Seriously? I don’t mean to belabour this, but according to Palin’s logic, the executives in states like WA, ID, MT, ND, MN, NY, ME, CA, NM, AZ, TX and FL also have foreign policy experience, right?

People in Western Europe are horrified. This morning I got an e-mail from a cousin in UK asking if the Americans knew something about McCain/Palin that the rest of the world doesn’t. I think a better question would be if Palin knows anything.

    Just damn.

If I were a woman, I’d be insulted that they put this chick on the ticket.

That was probably the most painful thing I’ve ever watched. Did ANYONE even talk to her before picking her for VP? She can’t even speak coherently or intelligently! Good grief.

I (of course) agree that Palin performed poorly in this interview, but I still found it interesting because of Katie Couric. In the other Palin interviews that I’ve seen, Palin managed to weasel out of even the toughest questions. Somehow, she even got many people to forgive her for not knowing what the Bush doctrine was. But Couric really stuck it to her. “I’ll find some and I’ll bring them to you”? That’s just genius.
