This Is Why Kobe Lost the PR Wars.

Back when Kobe and Shaq were childishly pissing away their chances at several more rings, the Kobe hate went from roiling under the surface to the default position on the dude.  Above, you see a big reason why. Shaq was a big-ass baby, too. But it’s really, really hard not to like Shaq.*

*Unless you’re Greg Ostertag. Then it’s easy.

Even in the post game interviews with Kobe and Shaq together, Shaq was relaxed, funny and nostalgic. Kobe gave the typical canned responses..Shaq continues to win, and one day Kobe will get it. Although I don’t think that Kobe/Shaq was any one person’s fault

I’m not sure if its a matter of winning or losing. It’s just the difference between someone who’s a natural extrovert and genuinely gregarious, and a someone who’s not entirely comfortable in large groups without a basketball in his hands.

Not much Kobe can do to change that, I think. He’s a finished product, in that regard.

And G.D., you’re right: Shaq was a big-ass baby. I understand that he’s mad Kobe snitched on him in Colorado but since then, it’s pretty much been Shaq who has been the instigator.

I caught this on Sunday and smiled and danced in my own living room with Shaq as he broke it down. How can you not like this guy?

I love Shaq. I hate these weird serial-killerish dancers. They look like the serial killer I imagine living in the basement laundry room in my building. I always have to run out when I turn off the lights, and I imagine a goddamned ski-masked man chasing me. Thanks, Jabbawockeez.
